What this does
Packs the files you add into one ZIP that opens on any computer or phone.
What it can’t do
Keep a folder structure when you add single files. Drop a whole folder to keep its files together.
A worked example
Fifteen documents for a mortgage application go to the broker as one ZIP, with neutral names switched on so the list reads document-1.pdf to document-15.pdf.
Questions
- Does zipping make files smaller?
- Text, documents and spreadsheets, yes. Photos, videos, music and PDFs are already compressed and stay about the same size.
- Why are the dates inside the ZIP blank?
- A ZIP normally records when each file was last changed. That is information about you, so it is left out.
- Can I add a password?
- Yes. Switch it on and the contents are encrypted with AES-256.
Your file stays on this device
The tool above runs in a sealed frame that cannot send your file anywhere. It works with airplane mode on, and the counter above it stays at 0. Here is how you can check that yourself.
