What this does
Draws each page of the PDF at the sharpness you choose and saves it as a JPG, numbered in order. The pictures carry no metadata.
What it can’t do
Keep the text selectable, or extract the original photos from inside the PDF at their full resolution. It draws the page as you see it.
A worked example
A one-page flyer made in a word processor needs to go on social media, which does not take PDFs. Saved as a JPG at 150 dpi, it is a 400 KB picture ready to post.
Questions
- Can I save just one page?
- Every page is drawn, and each is offered as its own file. Download only the ones you need, or split the PDF first to keep the batch small.
- What dpi should I use?
- 150 dpi for a picture that will be viewed on a screen or pasted into a chat. 300 dpi if it will be printed. 72 dpi for small previews.
- Why JPG rather than PNG?
- JPG files are much smaller, which suits pages with photos or colour. For pages that are mostly text, PNG keeps the letters perfectly sharp.
Your file stays on this device
The tool above runs in a sealed frame that cannot send your file anywhere. It works with airplane mode on, and the counter above it stays at 0. Here is how you can check that yourself.
