Reshape FilePrivacy

Make an encrypted ZIP

Bundle files into one ZIP that needs a password to open.

What this does

Your files are compressed into one ZIP and encrypted with AES-256 under the password you choose.

What it can’t do

Hide how many files there are, how large they are, or what they are called.

A worked example

A bookkeeper sends a month of scanned receipts to a client. One encrypted ZIP replaces thirty attachments, and the password goes in a separate message.

Questions

Can anyone open an AES-encrypted ZIP?
With the password and a suitable program, yes. 7-Zip on Windows and Keka on a Mac open them. Some built-in unzip tools do not support AES.
Are the file names hidden?
No. A ZIP shows its list of file names without the password; only the contents are encrypted. Turn on neutral names, or use Encrypt a file, if the names themselves are sensitive.
What happens to file dates?
Every date inside the ZIP is set to blank, so the archive does not show when each file was last changed.

Your file stays on this device

The tool above runs in a sealed frame that cannot send your file anywhere. It works with airplane mode on, and the counter above it stays at 0. Here is how you can check that yourself.
