What this does
Reads the data, then writes the same data in the format you choose, as you type.
What it can’t do
Keep things one format has and another lacks, such as comments in YAML or attributes’ order in XML.
A worked example
An export from a shop system is a CSV, and a script needs JSON. Paste it in, choose JSON, and copy the result.
Questions
- How does it know the format of my input?
- From the file's extension, or from what the text looks like. You can also choose the source format yourself.
- What happens to nested data when I choose CSV?
- A CSV is a flat table, so nested values become columns with dotted names, such as address.city, and lists are written as text.
- What if my input has a mistake in it?
- The tool shows the error and, where it can, the line it is on.
Your file stays on this device
The tool above runs in a sealed frame that cannot send your file anywhere. It works with airplane mode on, and the counter above it stays at 0. Here is how you can check that yourself.
